Daily Doodle #57: Fierce and Beautiful

From the Doodler:

The talented poet, Talena Lachelle, wrote a poem about Doodle #41 Cloud Songs yesterday, and it ended with the lines,

"fists full of feathers soaring
higher, higher, higher
where no fragile butterfly dare
flutter"

This is no fragile butterfly.  Fierce and beautiful, this warriorfly emerged from her cocoon able to flutter where she dares, and live her life as she chooses.

From the Doodle-Song Sommelier:

I know this is supposed to be a warriorfly, but I right away saw a bat. And with the lightning I immediately thought of "Bat Out of Hell" by Meat Loaf. I think the beginning instrumental part works especially well with it.

Poems inspired by this Doodle:

when I went to sleep
cocooned in your love
I was fragile
I melted
the whole long day
weighed my shoulders
my mortal feet ached
my temple throbbed
I understood pain
but while I slept
you restored me,
washed away all that
I didn’t need
whispered, strengthened,
lifted my spirit higher than
I knew it could be lifted
I’m changed,
indomitable,
fierce, a
warriorfly

I awake,
Unwrapping myself from the depths of long slumber
Slowly I spread my wings
And take delight in the colors
As they catch the light
I ready my wings behind me
As I step forward to face the day
My wings flutter, spread
And I take flight
Knowing nothing can hold me down
And nothing is as beautiful as I
